Abstract

AbstractReverse osmosis (RO) was experimentally tested on liquid condensates produced from a pilot evaporative crystallizer. The condensates contained residual light organic compounds. The original sources of the condensate feeds were two solar evaporation ponds that received treated liquid effluents from a hazardous waste treatment and disposal facility. The objective of the tests was to reduce total organics concentrations (TOC) to levels acceptable for discharge into the local POTW or surface waters.
