Abstract

Cu-based friction materials (CBFMs) are widely used in brake system such as High-Speed Trains and Wind Power Generation, its mechanical and tribological properties are of vital importance for the stable and safe operation. In this study, CBFMs holding 3D mesh structure were designed and fabricated by wet granulation and particle coating technology. Stress and temperature fields were obtained by finite element simulation. After that, the mechanical and tribological properties were investigated. The results showed that 3D mesh structure can enhance the compressive strength of CBFMs to 34.56% and reduce wear rate to a large extent. This study was expected to open up a new direction in enhancing comprehensive performances of CBFMs without changing its composition.
