Abstract

Abstract Background Hypospadias refers to a urethral opening proximal to the normal glanular location along the ventral side of the penis. The defect is commonly considered arrested development, due to incomplete fusionof urethral folds. Hypospadias occurs in 1 in 300 males (0.3%). Objective To evaluate the Meatal Mobilization technique in management of distal hypospadias to achieve better cosmoses and function with less complication. Patients and Methods This is Prospective Cohort with historical control study [operations which were done for distal hypospadias e.g: MAGPI, Thiersh Duplay, snodgrass] that was done on 35 patients with distal hypospadias age ranging from 1.5 year to 12 years complaining of abnormal site of micturition at Urology department, Ain Shams University starting From October 2022 till April 2023. Results Our results confirmed the viability of the meatal mobilization (MEMO) technique in the management of distal hypospadias with no fistula, no recurrence, no meatal stenosis, no glanular disruption, and better cosmetic appearance. Conclusion Meatal Mobilization (MEMO) technique is a viable option for management of distal hypospadias with better cosmoses and minimal complications after evaluation by HOPE score.
