Abstract

It is an effective way to improve the toughness, dielectrical property, and electrical property of epoxy vinyl ester resin (VE) via embedding hyperbranched polymer. In the present study, a new kind of flexible chain blocking hyperbranched polyester (HBP) with the rich unsaturated double bond has been designed and synthesized. The hyperbranched structure of HBP was characterized by NMR and FT-IR. Based on dielectric property test, it could be found that HBP could reduce dielectric constant (e) of VE compound, and the interaction between the polar functional groups in the flexible chain and epoxy resin could reduce dielectric loss (tgδ) within a certain frequency. The results of mechanical measurement showed that the addition of HBP could improve the mechanical properties of the resin systems. When HBP content was 20 wt%, the impact strength of modified epoxy anhydride curing compound reached 18.9 kJ/mm−2, and the bending strength of modified epoxy anhydride curing compound reached 134.0 MPa.
