Abstract

By means of electron transmission microscopy, we inquire into the statistic parameters of cracking of brittle inclusions of the second phase in the AMg6 alloy matrix in tension. A linear dependence is established between macroplastic deformation of tested specimens and relative displacement of cracked inclusions. It is suggested that the cracked inclusions of the second phase be used as indicators of macroplastic deformation of the matrix. A procedure is proposed for expert evaluation of plastic tensile deformation of materials from the analysis of displacements of cracked inclusions of the second phase.
