Abstract
Stable carbon isotope compositions of CH 4 and CO evolved from a lignite of the Mahakam delta series are determined as a function of time and temperature. Variations in the trend of data are due to the diversity of sources for carbon monoxide and methane. Chemical kinetic laws for first-order reactions applied to these experiments suggest that values for activation energies and preexponential factors can be estimated from isotope data.
