Abstract

Construction firms are often characterized as a conservative industry that lacks innovation. However, many construction organizations and players in the construction industry have now recognized the strategic importance of innovation. That is why the aim of this study is to evaluate innovative quality management practices in some of the Malaysian construction firms. The research was carried out as a case study based on six quality management practices: design, planning, systems, goal, positioning, and interaction practices. The data was collected through interviews and various relevant firms' documents. The analysis of this study was based on an analytical framework that consists of six quality management practices. Therefore, the result of this study shows that the item 'design' in quality management practices leads to the achievement of innovation more than the other items of quality management practices.
