Abstract

Several marine biological tissues were tested for homogeneity with respect to lead and cadmium. The variance for the certified reference material TORT-1 is approximately 1 μg/g for each metal. This is of the same order as the heterogeneity of spray-dried dogfish and swordfish tissue. Scallop adductor muscle was of the same level of heterogeneity for cadmium; the lead content was below the limit of detection of the procedure used.
