Abstract

In the Hyogoken-Nanbu Earthquake, the fractural modes of failures were predominant in the damage of steel buildings. In this paper, the results of full-scale shaking table tests on the fundamental structural elements of steel moment frames are summarized for possible modes of fracture. As a result, the level of the current design method is confirmed and necessary improvements are pointed out.
