Abstract

The three different force-calculating methods based on magnetic field analysis using the finite-element method are evaluated using a fundamental model, which is constructed with permanent magnets and iron plates. The magnetic force for the model is calculated by Maxwell's stress tensor method, the virtual work method, and the magnetizing current method. The validity of these methods is confirmed by experiments with the model.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
