Abstract

The materials of scientific research provide information about the processes of the origin of ravines on sloping lands. During the snowmelt period, water flows from the plowed fields into the hydrographic network. There are washouts, which cause the erosion processes. The level of soil erosion during snowmelt increases in direct proportion to the length of the slope. There are two sets of factors that have a decisive influence on the formation of erosion processes – natural and anthropogenic. Degradation processes usually appear when the factors of these two complexes are combined. According to the long-term experimental data of the Novosilskaya agro-forest reclaim station, the increase in coastal erosion in length is 1.6 m, and bottom erosion is 2.1 m (on average per year). To protect agricultural landscapes from negative processes of soil erosion, the anti-erosion measures should be applied.
