Abstract

The penetrating of the piezocone penetration testing (CPTU) is the process of soil strength destruction. The measured data of CPTU can directly reflect the strength characteristics of soil. This paper describes the marine CPTU and its test methods and equipment. Aiming at the artificial island revetment project of Sanya new Airport, sleeve friction, cone tip resistance and pore water pressure are obtained through the CPTU test at sea, and the soil layer in the area is divided based on these parameters. The data of CPTU are used to interpret the natural density, undrained shear strength and sensitivity of clayey soils, as well as the compaction degree and internal friction angle of sandy soils. An analysis of the consistency is given through comparing the data of marine CPTU test with the results of drilling, laboratory tests, standard penetration test (SPT). It provides reference for engineering practice in the coastal areas.
