Abstract
Electrochemical properties of Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZ) were investigated to reveal its availability as a solid electrolyte in all-solid-state rechargeable lithium ion batteries. A pellet with a single phase of garnet-like Li7La3Zr2O12 was prepared by solid state reaction. AC impedance measurement for Li7La3Zr2O12 pellet revealed that the prepared pellet had lithium ion conductivity of 2 × 10-4 S cm-1 at room temperature. The LLZ was chemically and electrochemically stable against lithium metal, which allowed lithium metal to be utilized as anode in all-solid-state lithium batteries. The cell with Li / LLZ / Li configuration was successfully operated and showed high reversibility at the current density up to 10 microA cm-2.
