Abstract
Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) is suitable for cleaner production and sustainable manufacturing. By using MQL, quantity of the toxic lubricants can be reduced which makes the machining processes more sustainable. In this study the MQL using vegetable oils is compared with dry and compressed air-cooling conditions for turning of aluminium 6061. Machining parameters viz. cutting speeds (Vc), feed rates (F.R.) and depths of cut (D.O.C.) are varied. The surface roughness Ra and Rz, feed forces (Fx), cutting forces (Fy) and radial forces (Fz) are concerned force components. The minimum Ra, Rz obtained are 0.866, 4.445 µm respectively. According to the results, MQL outperformed the other conditions.
