Abstract

The use of the ultrasonic Doppler test to diagnose venous thrombosis was evaluated in an obstetric and gynecological unit. Both asymptomatic postoperative patients and those with suspected venous thrombosis were studied. Detection of ilio-femoral thrombosis was possible, but the incidence in unselected gynecological patients was low. The technique was of greater value in clarifying the diagnosis in suspected venous thrombosis.
