Evaluation of distribution of forest engineers in Aegean region forest enterprises by using the Atkinson index

Abstract

In this study, the loss of social benefits due to the distribution of forest engineers working in 26 forest enterprises of Denizli, Izmir and Mugla Regional Forest Directorates were evaluated. For this purpose, Atkinson indexes were calculated according to the characteristics of forest enterprises such as total area, forest area, volume, allowable cut, wood production, fire, silviculture, expenditure and sale with the number of forest engineers. These values showing the loss of social benefits ranged from 0.091 to 0.248 due to the distribution of forest engineers working in forest enterprises the year 2007. Thus, 302 forest engineers working in Aegean Region Forest Enterprises felt as a result of between 227 and 275 appeared. Keywords: Atkinson index, Forest enterprise, Aegean Region, Forestry policy
