Abstract

In the recent era, additive manufacturing (AM) has played an important role in designing, fabrication, and development of new products in various fields. With the advancement in the technology, AM is also introduced to micro and nanotech product development. The products developed by 3D printing in AM need to be examined quite closely. The study suggests the importance of dimensional analysis of the 3D-printed products very precisely. Enhancement in dimensional accuracy will diversify the use of the AM process. The present chapter gives an overview on the background related to dimensional accuracy in the 3D printing process. It was observed that dimensional inaccuracy is one of the major scientific and research challenges during the 3D printing process. The present study highlights the techniques related to analyze the dimensional inaccuracy in the 3D printing process. The present study helps to classify the process characteristics and relevant accuracy issues that are examined during dimensional analysis. The study suggests the importance of dimensional accuracy of the 3D-printed product and future prospects on dimensional inaccuracies.
