Abstract

Abstract Several devices were fitted to the outlet vent of a Fletcher topdressing aircraft during a trial on a flat area at Napier, New Zealand. Lateral spread of superphosphate fertiliser, applied at 250 kg/ha, was evaluated by means of a grid of small traps. Compared with distribution from the unmodified aircraft, the addition of fairings to front and rear of the outlet produced a better spread pattern.
