Abstract

Feedlot cattle manures have for long been considered to be a major source of greenhouse gasses (GHG) in Australia. Lignite coals have been used recently as effective organic nitrification-inhibitors retaining nitrogen in cattle feedlot manure by reducing the emission of nitrogenous gases. This study is aimed at investigating whether lignite-retained nitrogen in cattle feedlot manure can be used as an available nitrogen (N) source for absorption by plants hence contribute to improved plant growth and produce higher yields.
