Abstract

Trichromatic colorimetry was applied to the specification of colour changes of metallochromic indicators, viz., 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR), Eriochrome Black T, Bromopyrogallol Red, Solochorme Blue Black B, Pyrocatechol Violet and 1-(pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN), in the complexometric titration of cadmium(II) to assess the quality of the colour change at the equivalence point from the CIE La*b* 1976 system and the value of the SCD (specific colour discrimination) parameter. Two screened indicator, PAR + Thymol Blue (5 + 3) and Eriochrome Black T + Methyl Red (7 + 1) were developed in a bid to improve the quality of colour change.
