Abstract
The purpose of the research was to evaluate the generation of CO 2 emissions in the firing process in the ceramic industry of the Metropolitan Area of Cucuta, Colombia. We selected 10 MSME (micro, small and medium size enterprises) that use 11 m diameter inverted flame kiln firing technology. The process was carried out based on the technique of balance of matter in steady state. The characteristics of mineral coal (next analysis) have been taken as a starting point for the mass balance. Likewise, an analysis of the fuel flow during the firing cycle was made. This cycle was adjusted to 66 hours and a maximum heating temperature of 1050 ° C in accordance with the actual operating conditions of the industry. The results of the evaluation of fuel load in the furnace, allowed to quantify the average CO 2 emissions generated in the ceramic industry.
