Abstract

The play, which has an important place in the development of children, starts with the family at home and continues with friends outside. Children's play areas have been created for children who need to play outdoors. In this area, children’s can spend time with his family, friends and provide physical, mental and social development. In this study, it is tried to give information about the laws that protect the children’s indispensable game and play rights, when children playgrounds in the district are opened to service and design criteria to be considered while creating these fields. For this purpose, children's playgrounds in Kulu district were examined and errors and deficiencies in the design of playgrounds were identified. 5 children playgrounds (Mevlana Park, Alpaslan Turkes Park, Olof Palme Park, Goc Park, Huzur Park) in Kulu district were visited and evaluated according to design criteria. Parks; location, age groups, disabled access, security, flooring material, urban furniture, plant design studies were examined. It is seen that the parks are not designed properly in general, regular maintenance - repair works are not carried out and they do not provide the use of individuals of different ages. In order to eliminate these errors and deficiencies, some suggestions were made in the conclusion section of our research. Although the major task in the protection of children's playgrounds lies with local governments, educators, families, occupational groups interested in nature and children should ensure the protection of these areas.
