Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to collect, conserve and evaluate cashew germplasm accessions suitable to maidan parts of Karnataka at the Agricultural Research Station, Chintamani during the period 1982 to 1990. In total 102 germplasm accessions have been collected and the same were field planted with a spacing of 7.5A—7.5 m and evaluated. The growth and yield attributing characteristics of these accessions have revealed that, among the accessions 8/46-Taliparamba and ME-4/4 found superior in yield and other parameters. These two accessions have been released for cultivation as ‘Chintamani-1’ and ‘Chintamani-2’.
