Abstract

The evaluation and selection of assembly sequences are performed in the planning stage of assembly processes. This paper deals with the effect of selecting particular assembly sequences to the performance of flexible assembly systems(FAS). The performance of FAS is evaluated using the generalized FAS scheduling problem(GFASSP). Compared to the conventional FASSP, GFASSP tries to select the most efficient assembly sequences for each product as well as minimize cycle time to complete the assemblies in FAS environment while considering the transfer time of subassemblies.
