Abstract

Attachment and biofouling of marine microbes or organisms have influence on the reliability, service life and environmental adaptability of marine ships. Based on the photocatalysis effect of nano-titanium dioxide and the sterilization ability of cuprous oxide, low toxicity and effective marine antifouling paints were prepared with the utilization of excellent performance of chloric polymer. Evaluation of biofouling resistance was carried out by the laboratory method. Fluorescent microscopy observation indicated that the paints had a good capacity of inhibition to growth of diatoms and spores. Results of influence of different coating area and concentration showed the inhibition capacity of nano-titanium dioxide and cuprous oxide in the paints on biological growth respectively and jointly.
