Abstract
The U. S. Navy's Project-AROWA method of forecasting 24-hr deepening of North Atlantic surface cyclones is applied, with modifications, to the North Pacific for both winter and summer. As in the North Atlantic study, the method successfully separates deepening from non-deepening cases about 90 per cent of the time. Comparison of the forecast and observed values of deepening is also presented.
