Abstract
This study examines the value derived from hosting the tall ship “Miraie” at an event in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture, in April 2016. Many programs for this event were cancelled as a result of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, making the tall ship the only tour available. This study surveys tour participants to estimate the value of this attraction using the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM). The method is used to evaluate environmental measures by estimating participants’ willingness to pay (WTP).
