Abstract

The EXACT controller is a commercially available adaptive controller that uses pattern recognition to achieve desired closed loop characteristics. For many SISO processes the EXACT does an excellent job. This paper will explore the application of EXACT controllers to 2 × 2 systems where interaction occurs. It is shown that in some cases interaction degrades the performance of the EXACT controller. Guidelines as to when interaction can be deleterious are given.
