Abstract
ABSTRACT THE cable farming concept presented here provides an alternative machinery propulsion system (AMPS) which is not based on soil-tire interactions. The power unit subsystem of the AMPS transmits motive power to the machine while the power unit remains stationary. Overall efficiencies were constant at 23% for three successive implement passes. Compared to a tractor system which is dependent on field tractive conditions, significant energy reduction can be achieved.
