Abstract

Gonadal dosimetric evaluation of a 16-mm cine voiding cystourethrographic method to determine its continued feasibility was undertaken in 24 children undergoing clinical evaluation. Gonadal radiation dose was ascertained by using LiF dosimeters in pressed chips. The dosimeters also measured the radiation dose from the combined fluoroscopy, cine and spot film exposures. The average dose to 6 boys (scrotum-assumed gonadal) was 77 mrads and to 18 girls (rectal-assumed gonadal) 366 mrads. The results are compared with those from previously reported 70-mm spot film and 16-mm cine techniques.
