Abstract

Abstract This paper covers the evaluation of a ground granulated blast furnace slag as a partial replacement for portland cement in mortars and concrete. The ground slag was evaluated for strength-producing properties as well as durability performance when used to replace 40 to 65% portland cement. This study shows that the ground slag when used to replace 40 to 65% portland cement did significantly improve strengths, sulfate resistance, and alkali aggregate reactivity.
