Abstract

Past research on evaluation criteria used in competitive debate has produced results contrary to common practice. This investigation employed multiple regression and correlational analysis to determine (1) whether the traditional six criteria of analysis, reasoning, evidence, organization, refutation, and delivery predict actual win-loss records, (2) the relative importance of each, and (3) the degree of independence of the judgments made.
