Abstract

Reflective coating is an effective way to alleviate the heat island effect and delay pavement distress under high temperature. However, the optical properties based on the full-spectrum and its aging performance need to be investigated. Based on the principle of full-spectrum reflection optical properties, this study selects near-infrared reflective fillers as the functional fillers and three types of anti-aging fillers to prepare near-infrared reflective colored cooling road coatings. The optical properties, pavement performance, and durability performance were evaluated. The results show that the total reflectance of the near-infrared reflective coating is increased from 5% to 30%-40%, and the near-infrared reflectance is increased from 3% to 50%. ZnO in nanometer benefits for the anti-aging performance of coatings. Reflective coatings applied on pavement could meet the requirement of pavement performance such as abrasion resistance and skid resistance. The research results can provide a theoretical basis for developing the reflective coatings on pavement and lead to a pavement system which is resilient to extreme urban climate.
