Evaluating the relationship between early glucose tolerance test screening and adverse neonatal and maternal outcomes

Abstract

ACOG recommends early gestational diabetes (GDM) screening in at risk women in the usual 2 step fashion. The impact of having 1 abnormal value on the 3-hour glucose tolerance test (GTT) is unknown as these women do not meet criteria for GDM. We aim to determine if 1 abnormal value on an early GTT is associated with adverse outcomes, specifically comparing patients with only an abnormal fasting value to those with 1 abnormal non-fasting value.
