Abstract

Muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration (FI) result from rotator cuff tear, which makes operative repair difficult. Irreversible degeneration after multiple tendon ruptures is common among elderly patients, and the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. In addition, while all muscles constituting the rotator cuff should be investigated, only the supraspinatus has been targeted in previous studies. We evaluated the degeneration of each muscle in the mice to reveal the mechanisms of degeneration.
