Ostensively, this book was written for clinicians and students in the field who are not familiar enough with research methods to read research reports in the literature and be able to evaluate the material critically. An equally valuable purpose is to provide a relatively painless text in research methods and writing for those professionals who took such a course in years past but were unable to retain this information because of lack of use. The material also presents an excellent guide to those students or new professionals in the field who are just venturing into research in the speech and hearing sciences. Ventry and Schiavetti have organized the book in a most creative manner, with the information logically sequenced, well documented, and extremely well written.
