Abstract

With hostile neck anatomy a relative contraindication to carotid endarterectomy, carotid artery stenting is frequently used for carotid revascularization for these patients. However, this could potentially increase the risk of periprocedural complications. As transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) has progressively replaced transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TFCAS) in the past few years, evidence pertaining to hostile neck anatomy and TCAR is necessary to establish its safety and feasibility for this subgroup of patients.
