Abstract

A study was conducted in Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary ofKashmir Division to assess the population ofHimalayan vulture, mortality and human relations using transect method and questionnaire survey. During the study period (May 2018-April 2020), a total of 289 individuals of Himalayan vulture were observed in the study area which comprised of 75.77% and 24.23% adults andsub-adults respectively. Construction ofMughalroad and 400 KV transmission line, scarcity of food during winter and possible use ofdiclofenac were the major threats that vultures face in the sanctuary.
