Abstract

This study developed an integrated simulation model for analyzing transport policy measures' effectiveness in reducing energy consumption and air pollution, and actually applied the model for several policy measures to the case of Seoul. The impact of three major policy measures, which include strengthening emission standards, improving traffic flow and fuel pricing, were evaluated. For each policy measure, the impact on fuel consumption and subsequent air pollutant concentration level were estimated. Due to the limitations in data, only two major air pollutants, CO and NOx were considered in this analysis.
