Abstract

Purpose: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a known risk factor for frozen shoulder (FS) also referred to as adhesive capsulitis. Clinical prognosis differs based on presence or absence of DM in patients with FS. Joint inflammation and dysfunction is a significant clinical problem for patients with FS. We aimed to explore if such clinical differences may be explained by biological differences through evaluation of whole genome expression profiles in diabetic and non-diabetic associated FS in humans using a whole genome RNAseq approach.
