Abstract

A ‘hybrid-string’ structure is a new form of hybrid structural system, which has been developed and used extensively in the construction of large-span structures. In order to ensure an overall safety and to evaluate the degree of safety for such structures, performance-based design and disaster analysis (in addition to the general analysis) are suggested. Examples of such hybrid-string structures are discussed and details of the sequence of design requirement are highlighted.
