Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a tool to objectively determine student outcomes based on a newly developed Clinical Simulation Grading Rubric©. The rubric has been developed to evaluate student performance using an obstetrical scenario that represents one of the single most lethal complications of pregnancy - abruptio placentae. Whether used in a simulation setting to teach disaster nursing or to teach obstetrical nursing, the scenario offers the nurse educator an objective means for the evaluation of student learning outcomes.
