Abstract
Feeding requires to be evaluated due to the one of the critical phases especially on weaning Bali cattle. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of weaning Bali calves. The feed offered was king grass (Pennisetum purpuphoides) and commercial concentrate NOVO NC64. The nutrient content of king grass and concentrate were 15.58% and 87.62% for DM; 9.96% and 19.87% for protein, respectively. Parameters measured included feed consumption in as fed and DM basis, protein consumption, average daily gain, and feed efficiency. The result of feeding evaluation on weaned Bali calves were 2.44 kg/head/day and 371.9 g/head/day for DM and protein consumption, respectively. The average daily gain was 0.51 kg/head/day with 21.19% feed efficiency. Based on these results, it was concluded that the feed offered to weaned Bali calves at Breeding Center Pulukan was considered to have met the requirement standard to an average of DM and protein consumption. It was due to the growth period of the weaned Bali calves which in more focused on the growth of bones, organs and muscles.
