Evaluar recursos electrónicos de información especializada en bibliotecas universitarias

Abstract

An evaluation model proposal is presented based on different procedures focused on the evolution and sustainability of collections of specialized information resources, in electronic format, for academic libraries. The electronic collections of the Division of Specialized Information Services (SSIE) of the General Directorate of Libraries (DGB) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) are taken as a sample and different experiences are shown on the evaluation system that is applied in order to present different instruments, as well as the results that have been obtained, considering that the evaluation is a field of experimentation and constant innovation and that must be a permanent and continuous exercise. It is estimated that it is necessary to create and update standards and evaluation guides, periodically, in order to be used in the different stages of the evolution process and the management of specialized information in electronic format.
