Abstract
Gastric polyps (GP) are lesions originated in the gastric mucosa that are a frequent incidental finding in upper endoscopy procedures. The endoscopic characteristics and the patientś clinical setting are useful for their evaluation; in this regard characteristics such as anatomical localization, genetic background, use of certain drugs like proton pump inhibitors and the size of the GP need to be taken into account for an accurate characterization.NBI/magnification and chromoendoscopy are useful tools for histological prediction of GP. If the clinical background is not clear it is essential to obtain biopsies to better characterize the lesion. Several indications for treatment and follow-up of patients with GP are available. The topics mentioned above are discussed in this review.
