Abstract

In the current issue of Digestive and Liver Disease, Dr. Marx et al. reported about the impressive 20-years’ experience of EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy (EUS-HGS) performed in Marseille, France, where this technique was substantially born [1]. Can you imagine a better occasion to get an insight on where we are and where we are going? The Authors retrieved more than two hundred patients who underwent EUS-HGS because of malignant biliary obstruction (MBO) in case of failed or impossible ERCP; patients with various conditions (half patients had hepatic hilar metastases) and various stricture localization (half patients had proximal MBO) have been included in the study.
