European Charter of Local Self-Government – normative document of international law The European Charter of Local Self-Government is an important document that has enshrined the fundamental rights of municipalities and cities on an international scale and formulated the principles on which the local level of government is to be built. The author deals with general characteristics of the document, emphasizing the issue of how to implement the European Charter of Local Self-Government in the legal systems, and provides a general interpretation of the substantive provisions contained in the European Charter of Local Self-Government.
