Abstract
This chapter questions both theoretically and historically the link between Euroscepticism and European elections. It first investigates in detail the relationship between Euroscepticism and European elections, taking into account the ‘historical’ development of anti-EU political forces in the European Parliament (EP). It then proceeds with a country-specific, differentiated analysis of the 2014 EP elections which identifies different logics working behind the general banner of opposition to the EU. Finally, it embeds the current results of the EP elections into the general framework of European integration by demonstrating that we are confronted with a deeply rooted phenomenon of Euroscepticism that has accompanied this process from the start.
