Abstract

In its most explicit and simplest form Europeanisation provides a means by which European Union (EU) policy impacts on member states can be assessed and analysed. In empirical terms this paper concentrates on EU impacts relating to UK and German member state financial services sectiors. White in theoretical terms it procivides a specific conceptualisation of Europeanisation as both meso (middle range) and substantive theory. Furthermore, breaking down meso theory into specific parts of ‘process’ (uploading, downloading and cross-loading) the analysis enables a clear understanding of the interaction between Europeanisation and European intergration. Overall, the linkages between menber state financial services sectiors in relation to policy transfer, lesson-drawing and policy convergence clarify conceptualisations and utilisatinos of Europeanisation.
