Abstract

The European market is the largest regional travel market in the world backed by some of the strongest travel and Internet infrastructure elements in the world. The European online leisure/unmanaged business travel market as a whole averaged more than 50% annual growth from 2003–2006. But the gains have slowed, and will continue to cool through 2008, when the online channel is expected to increase by 22% compared to 37% in 2006 (see Fig. 1).
